Perhaps not cool on DJI's part, but this battery was advertised to work as OEM, without issues or compromise.Supported Drones and Autopilots. I don't think the battery is defective in any way, it's just that the device it's advertised to work in does not allow it to work. With this battery installed, the Phantom will not go into "Ready to fly" status, and the battery error pop-up message in the Vision App cannot be dismissed, so the camera is unusable as well. There's no way that DJI's quality control would release a battery like that for a high vibration, mission critical application like this. That is, the block of battery cells can slide forward and back about 1/4" relative to the battery case, presumably resisted only by the solder connections. Upon closer inspection, the most notable difference is that the actual battery cells appear to be slightly smaller, and are not very well secured inside the plastic cage. It was clearly designed to look identical to the real thing, and thus intentionally misleading to consumers.
Phantom 2 Software How To Install LitchiI have two other quads, and 5 batteries. I have lots of experience with Lipos. I fly it until it reaches 50% charge.I don't mind paying 129.00 per battery, but that price for a battery that only lasts maybe 50 flights is ridiculous!PS. If a new battery cost 129.00 and is good for MAYBE 50 flights, that is 2.58 per 12 minute flight! It would be cheaper to take a drive in the car, and burn the gas.I say 12 minutes, because that is the longest I fly my quad. You can tell your battery is starting to age(in addition to locking at the status on the Phantom assistant software) by seeing if it gets hot when you fly the quad.DJI is making money hand over fist on these! Think about it. It is up in the air for 25 seconds, and he gets the red flashing low battery warning, and auto land.Brand new batteries don't get hot when you fly them. Search for a folder on a mac sierraThe battery diagnostics listed the total capacity of the battery as 1,100mAh intead of 5,200 - apparently one or more cells was dead after the first flight. Firmware was was verified to be current per DJI's support instructions but it led nowhere. Going back and forth on drone troubleshooting with DJI led to the battery being found as the culprit. One the last 3 flights the drone has either initiated auto-landing within 30 seconds of takeoff or simply fell from the sky. I purchased and received an authentic OEM battery here and it charged normally and seemed to work fine on the first two flights. DJI makes an awesome flying machine but then doesn't stand by their products that aren't quality. Now I have to buy all new batteries if I want to fly my $2000 investment and hope they last longer than a few months which I am confident they won't. Of course customer service says they are only warrantied for 3 months which I believe was a 1 year warranty at the time of purchase but i presume they have received so many complaints they now drop it to 3 months. I have 3 of these DJI batteries and all of them share the same defect. Gauntlet dark legacy gamecube emulator macI can only hope their newer batteries and products are more quality but I would not expect the business to have better customer service.
